An important message from Councillor Ron Nelson
I love Geelong. I was raised and educated here, and I am passionate about fulfilling the potential and opportunities that lie ahead for our City.
During my 46 years in Geelong, I have a long track record of community service. I have loved supporting and playing for my local cricket and football clubs, and been privileged to be involved with many wonderful charities and clubs such as Highton Rotary, Geelong Lions, Give Where You Live, Beyond Blue, and I am a proud member of the Geelong CATS AFL and a Foundation member of Geelong Cats AFLW, Geelong RSL, and our Libraries. Such involvement has instilled in me a deep connection and love of Geelong, and a real understanding of the issues facing local residents and small businesses.
My drive for action and local understanding is supported by my experience as a former chef, small business owner, work with the Department of Defence and my current role as a frontline worker supporting people that have been injured at work. I know how to get things done compassionately, efficiently, effectively, on time and on budget.
I have consistently delivered on my promises to our community, but there is more work that needs to be done. First and foremost is a rates freeze to ease the burden on ratepayers and renters.
I pledge to work tirelessly for you and for our community to ensure our essential needs are met reasonably and economically, and that Council sticks to its core responsibilities.
— Councillor Ron Nelson, Barrabool Hills Ward
City of Greater Geelong
